Tactics Used For Workplace Bullying

By Chris McArdle

Workplace bullying is an unreasonable behavior that makes employees uncomfortable. This is termed as unethical behavior and is punishable in all organizations. People that humiliate others in the working places use different tactics. Tactics are the methods used by bullies to intimidate others in organizations. There are a lot of methods that helps in determining whether a certain behavior is a bully or not.

False accusation is one of the tactics that is commonly used by people. Most of the workers tend to accuse others on things that they have not done. They report errors that have not occurred just to bring people down. Another behavior is intimidating others non-verbally. This is whereby people do not involve you in any activities that take place in an organization. You can see it by yourself no one tells you that you are unwanted.

It is the work of the management to give strict rules on such behavior. They do this by writing a list of all behaviors that are unacceptable in a given organization. They also give the actions that will be taken if a certain behavior occurs in the organization. Majority of organizations couch employees on bullying behaviors.

This is either conducted through protocols or programs that are organized regularly by the management. For one to say that they have been bullied they should ensure that the activity has been repeated severally. Some people may mistake other isolated behaviors for bullying. In order to differentiate types of unethical behaviors in an organization, the management groups the behaviors and ensures that everyone gets to understand the categories.

People can also encourage others to turn against the person being tormented. They do this by creating a bad image of the person to other people. One way that people use to encourage others is befriending them and isolating the tormented individual. There are people that torment others by publicly displaying gross and undignified behavior.

There are organizations that discriminate people against color, gender and religion among others. Other factors that contribute to bullying are relationships between employees. Workers that have strong relationships may be envied by those that do not have close ties. Changes in the organizational levels may also contribute to a decline in morale of employees.

Another tactic used for workplace bullying is lying about an evolution process. This is whereby people give false reports on other peoples work. All these tactics should be checked well in all organizations to ensure that people do not accuse others.
